- FBI issues warning to parents about toys spying on their kids

The FBI yesterday released a public service announcement (PSA) alerting parents to the dangers potentially imposed by smart toys. The document warns that connected toys with microphones, GPS tracking, Wi-Fi, and/or bluetooth connectivity could be giving criminals access to private information about children and their families. This could lead to identity theft or worse: The exposure of such information could create opportunities for child identity fraud. Additionally, the potential misuse of sensitive data such as GPS location information, visual identifiers from pictures or videos, and known interests to garner trust from a child could present exploitation risks.
