Facebook launches Verified Pages and Profiles, mimicking Twitter’s verification system to guarantee authenticity

Facebook today announced the launch of verified Pages and profiles. Verified accounts have a small, blue
checkmark beside their name on timelines, in search results, and elsewhere on the social network, just like Twitter.
