Apple’s new futuristic ‘spaceship’ campus has been given the green light by the Cupertino City Council.

As the San Jose Mercury News reports, the Council voted “unanimously” to approve the mammoth premises, and comes a little over two years after Steve Jobs personally pitched the project to them.

“Steve transformed Apple into one of the most innovative companies in the world and we understand the responsibilities that come from carrying his legacy forward with this project,” said Dan Whisenhunt, Apple’s head of real estate and facilities. “We’ve designed it with the same care and attention to detail as we do with all Apple products.”

Apple Campus 2 will house more than 12,000 Apple employees.
