Microsoft announced its third update for the Windows Phone 8 mobile operating system today, adding support for 5 and 6-inch displays with a 1080p resolution.
These will support “jumbo-sized” Start screens and show up to six Live Tiles on each row, rather than the four that’s available right now.
GDR3, or General Distribution Release 3, also supports Qualcomm’s 8794 quad-core processor and a new feature called Driving Mode, which limits notifications and send auto-replies when you’re out on the road.
The software update will be available on existing Windows Phone 8 handsets “over the next several months,” according to Microsoft.
