Microsoft is buying Xamarin, a company that enables cross-platform development for mobile apps. Microsoft has partnered Xamarin for some time now, but the company is saying “the combination of Xamarin, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Team Services, and Azure provides a complete mobile app dev solution that provides everything you need to develop, test, deliver and instrument mobile apps for every device.” The acquisition is part of the company’spush for greater development on of mobile and Universal apps for Windows 10 devices – which it desperately needs if it wants to catch up to the breadth of Android, iOS and Mac apps.…
