Time Warner Cable is about to take on Netflix. The company today announced a streaming service aimed at film buffs called ‘FilmStruck.’ Unlike Netflix and other services, FilmStruck’s catalog will specifically center around “art house, indie, foreign and cult films,” although it will include newer titles as well. That could be something of a win-win for TWC. Older movies will be easier to secure licensing rights for, while also being enough of a niche that there won’t be a huge overlap with Netflix’s current offerings. It’s secured an exclusive streaming partnership with the Criterion Collection – reknown for distributing film classics…
