The first quarter of 2016 saw Google’s Chromebook outsell Macs for the first time. The data, shared by International Data Corporation (IDC)  in a Chromebook session today at I/O, estimated 1.76 million Macs sold in Q1 2016, while Chromebook makers Dell, Lenovo and HP sold nearly 2 million units. In a world with dwindling PC interest, Chromebook’s success comes largely from the K-12 community. With multiple models priced under $400, it’s an attractive solution to the ever-changing education landscape and the machines are far from their stripped-down predecessors that were mainly glorified netbooks.
