The internet doesn’t have a discrimination problem; people on the internet have a discrimination problem. This problem became Airbnb’s problem back in May, much like it became the problem of Uber, Facebook, Twitter and hundreds of other tech companies before that. After the hashtag #AirbnbWhileBlack blew up in May, the on-demand housing provider faced escalating backlash from both users and activists claiming it wasn’t doing enough to rectify its discrimination problem.
